Braking-The Untold Tip:To many, squeezing the brake levers are the number one source for keeping it safe while cycling. However, not braking properly can be the source of a world of hurt and pain from a collision to a nasty  fall. Even worse, your improper braking can be the start of a chain of  other cyclists crashing.

For example, descending down a hill and squeezing the front brake is a recipe for certain disaster. However, if you were to gently squeeze the back brake while applying a little tention to the front brake, then coming to a safe and controllable stop is easily achieved.

As you can see from the recent Tour de France, even professional cyclists get this wrong  at times when they underestimate the laws of gravity. Avoid such pitfalls and start practicing this necessary  skill today.

Major Taylor: A Cycling Icon

Getting beyond obstacles is a cyclist best talent. On a typical ride, a cyclist have to contend with automobiles, pot-holes, pedestrians, sandy corners, and a host of others. Nevertheless, steady hands and calm nerves are needed to stay upright on their bikes. In other words, Don't Panic.

Despite the above obstacles, non is more privalent than the Squirrel. The squirrel is supposedly one of the smartest animals within its environment. Cyclists disagree. Squirrels more than any other animals are credited for brining down more cyclist than dogs and cats combined. They have a tendency to be hesitant and move rather panicy when it gets nervous. For example, a squirrel may run back and forth before it finally decides on staying on one side of a path. To survive such an encounter, the remidy is not to panic. Ride straight ahead. 90% of the time the squirrel will stay on one side of the road. However, if it runs out on you, you may have to live with running over the squirrel if you cannot slow down in time. If this happens, rest assure that the squirrel is rather resilient and survive this kind debacle all the time.

The alternative if you cannot slow down, is to swurve and this is where the danger lies. Swurving to avoid  hitting a squirrel should be your last and most desperate move. Many cyclists have paid a painful price. On top brining themselves down, the cyclist often brings down their fellow cyclists around them. Such an incident can be physically and financially taxing and should be avoided at all cost.
